Extended Set Manipulative Math Set Learning Fractions with Circles

New portable math manipulative set for fractions. Precision cut from solid 1/8th inch alder wood, these fraction slices will not deform as foam and paper can and can last through multiple children. Fraction circles are one of our more popular math manipulative requests due to fractions being a topic and is incredibly important and a basis for later higher math, chemistry, physics, and general life. Getting the basics down is extremely important in setting a foundation for higher math skills. A firm understanding of fractions in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade is essential in continuing to love that math class. Master your child's difficulties with a tactile and educational toolset in these fraction circles.

In the basic set I include whole sets of the most common fractions: 1/2, 1/3. 1/4, 1/6, 1/8, 1/10, and 1/12 for easy addition, mix and match and ordering. These seven whole fraction sets will aid any student in mastering fraction topics. The guide board is 4.25" by 3.5" and each whole circle measures about 3.25" in diameter. This set is packaged in a small chipboard box perfect for backpacks or purses. (To clarify the basic is a 46 piece set, 1 circle, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, 6/6, 8/8 and 10/10)

This extended set includes all of the above plus an additional circular form and the whole fraction sets of 1 (whole), 1/5, 1/7, 1/9 and 1/11 and is packaged in a larger chipboard box. (This set has 80 pieces total. It includes everything in the basic set and adds an extra guide circle, 1 whole, 5/5, 7/7, 9/9 and 11/11.)

Our suggestion for use of the fraction circle is to start with modeling fractions. Relate your models to real life situations in cooking, sharing, etc. to aid in visualization. Once the terminology and visual modeling is mastered, you can move into simple fraction math and fraction reduction or simplification (as in what is half of 1/4). Using the fraction models and a scratchpad, demonstrate the written form next to the visual aid and illustrate the meaning of numerator and denominator.

The fraction model can be used as a visual and tactile aid as the student moves into comparing and ordering fractions, multiplication and division of fractions, and addition and subtraction of fractions.

Our products are laser cut for precision and made from 100% verified sustainable North American Alder wood. Each set is coated with an acrylic laquer for durability and wipe-clean use. Each fraction slice is engraved with the value of the fraction or they can be flipped over for visual use only. Each set also include a handy and portable circle builder for building whole sets and comes packed in a chipboard box. Makes the perfect gift or present for elementary math teachers, homeschool educators, or parents interested in extension education after school. Also makes a good addition to a Montessori based math center for fraction exploration.
